DETOURS: Made Here Launch, Artists In Storefronts Opening Gala

What a wonderful time at The Detours: Made Here Launch Party put on by Hennepin Theatre Trust!

Made Here features the work of more than 30 Minnesota artists and their art installed in the storefronts on Hennepin Avenue. Blue Lady was invited to mingle with the artists, art goers, and people out on the street! She brought along her elemental friends Fire and Air all carrying orange detours signs to remind us climate is changing fast and we need to pay attention to new directions of approach. Pictured here with installation artist Reggie LeFlore.

FALL SOUND GARDEN

Fall was the final Wavelets Creative Sound Garden Installation of 2018 which took place at Monomin Park, Fridley, MN, where Rice Creek flows into the Mississippi River. While the trees were just starting to turn and lose their leaves, Blue Lady roved the Sound Garden, played chekere, and presented her fall water song accompanied by the Free Range Orchestra and Choir.  Her friends the LOVE Butterflies help spread her magic and joy, delivering paper hearts with participants’ messages to the love tree. This happened amidst a beautiful composition of unfolding music with musicians, poets, dancers and suggestions of a sacred past that we can feel and honor to this day.

Summer Sound Garden

Blue Lady is honored to participate in each of the four seasonal Sound Gardens in 2018, and has been inspired to create a water song for each season and exquisite location. Her friends the LOVE Butterflies help spread her magic and joy, and at the Summer Sound Garden in Silverwood Park, Blue Lady premiered her new summer song “Soakin It In” with the Free Range Orchestra and Choir.

Summer was the third of four seasonally-inspired site-specific Sound Gardens presented by Wavelets Creative and composer JG Everest in 2018.  Look for the Fall Sound Garden coming up next!

Spring Sound Garden in Grand Marais

Blue Lady comes from the deep ocean waters. She is fascinated with earth beings and travels far and wide to listen, learn and mingle. She also loves to experience water in its many configurations and is especially attracted to earthly celebrations with music at the waters edge.  200 rivers melt into Lake Superior and springtime is in it's glory. Blue Lady is honored to share this auspicious time with you and Wavelets Creative at the Sound Garden in historic Harbor Park, Grand Marais.

Spring was the second of four seasonally-inspired Sound Garden events presented by Wavelets Creative. Composer James Everest created sounds amplified from vessels throughout the site and  participants were immersed in an outdoor environment on the shore of Lake Superior with music, poetry, sculpture, dance and a Springtime song by Blue Lady and The Free Range Choir. Two more events to come!  Each site-specific Sound Garden event will take place in a different outdoor location around Minnesota. I'll keep you posted!

Blue Lady made special Carnival costumes celebrating Shango and Iyansa and performed with dancer Ginga da Bahia!
